A Lovely Mother's Day Weekend

Happy Mother's Day to all you mommies out there -- I hope your weekend was as nice as mine! On Friday afternoon, I left Grace at my mom's and met my sister-in-law, Becca, in Castle Rock for a night's getaway. We brought boxes of photos we had let accumulate for years so that we could start organizing them and putting them into albums. We made some great headway and had a lot of fun together. Dinner out...a little shopping on Saturday... no kids waking us up... ahhhhh! TONS of thanks to our husbands, Phil and Ryon, for being so supportive of our night away. We loved it!

This morning I discovered what Grace and Daddy had bought for me when I was gone. Grace had picked a gift all by herself: a set of flower-shaped Post-it notes! She was sooo proud of herself. She giggled as I oohed and aahed over them, and asked, "Do you really like them, Mommy?" It was so cute. I will surely treasure them!

This afternoon we had my family (including Phil's brother, Adam) over for Brats, cake and homemade ice cream. It was a beautiful day to be outside.

One more item of interest: this morning as he was getting ready for church, Phil cut a little too closely as he was trimming his goatee. He decided to go ahead and shave it off. The last time his chin saw the light of day was in 2001, before I knew him! Grace watched him shave but has been a little wary of his "different face" all day. I personally think it now looks as if I've robbed the cradle -- does he look 10 years younger to you? :)
