"Fun" in the Snow

We're on our 2nd snow day in a row!  We have about 18 inches of snow in the backyard.  I took Grace outside yesterday when Nora was napping and we had a lovely time building a (tiny) snowman:

(This snowman is now covered to his eyeballs with snow that has fallen since yesterday afternoon!)

Today was a different story, however.  I decided to be brave and get BOTH girls ready to go outside and experience the winter wonderland.  After taking many minutes to get everyone bundled up, we headed out.  Within 1 minute, this happened:

Soon thereafter she bonked her head on our planter, adding a nice new forehead bruise to her collection.  We went inside.  Time elapsed:  5 minutes.

I left Grace out to play by herself for a while, and soon I heard wailing and cries of "Mommy!!"  This is what I found:

She'd fallen down and couldn't get up and lost her gloves and snow blew in her face and it was terrible.  "Maybe I just won't play in the snow anymore, Mom."  Time elapsed: 8 minutes.

Time well spent, I'd say.

I'm just glad I paused to take pictures of my suffering children before helping them out of their predicaments.  Done like a true blogger.

so glad you took photos before rescuing - awesome! Nora's face is classic. I must say that we've had much better luck - other than replacing Brogan's glove every 10 seconds. But it's SOOO much easier with him this year than it was last year!!
